Through his divisive and inflammatory rhetoric, President Donald Trump continues to demonstrate that he is unfit to lead this country.
Normally, presidents attempt to unite the nation during the Fourth of July weekend. Not President Trump. At his two weekend rallies, one from Mount Rushmore in South Dakota and the other from the South Lawn of the White House, President Trump attacked protesters for racial justice as “anarchist agitators“ hellbent on destroying the nation’s history -- and assured his supporters that he would protect the nation’s statues and monuments.
At a time when many Americans are pushing for a more racially inclusive society, the president continues to stoke the flames of racial division. With his poll numbers falling, Trump has taken a further turn to the right to appease his remaining supporters. We need to send a strong message to Trump that his divisive rhetoric will not stand.
