I'm reaching out about the importance of the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA). I'm calling on the Pennsylvania congressional delegation to pass $1.9 billion in federal funding towards this extremely important resource.

As someone who witnessed gun violence at a young age, I know firsthand how witnessing or being the victim of a crime can drastically change your life. This is why I am so passionate about VOCA and making sure that resources are available to those who need them.

Currently, around 150,000 Pennsylvanians receive care from the VOCA, which provides funding for medical bills, relocation costs, funeral costs, and more. This act is funded by the Crime Victims Fund, created by Congress via non-taxpayer money. However, Republicans are slashing money from this critical program.

Instead of choosing to put money towards actually helpful resources, such as VOCA, Trump's Republican controlled House and Senate are arguing over tax cuts for billionaires like Elon Musk.

This is completely unacceptable. When elected officials are sworn in, they make a promise to the people they represent that they will not only do what is best for their constituents but also what is right. This is why I take my job as Lieutenant Governor so seriously. I am in a unique position to have a direct impact on the people of the Commonwealth. Part of that job is advocating for the thousands of people who may lose access to important resources, such as VOCA.
