Democrat,

It was debate night again this week, and let’s be clear: Mikie knocked it out of the park. She once again demonstrated what kind of leader she would be a governor: strong, prepared, and mission-focused. On the other side, Jack offered a weak performance with evasive and concerning answers to the questions on the top of minds of New Jersey voters.

It’s been over a week and the GOP’s government shutdown continues because they refuse to make health care affordable for families. Instead, they pushed a budget bill that prioritizes the ultra-rich, spending more than 10 times the cost of ACA tax credits on a permanent tax windfall for the wealthy. Democrats stand ready to protect our health care and reopen the government, while Republicans like Tom Kean Jr., Jeff Van Drew, and Chris Smith refuse to do their jobs. Call their offices and make clear New Jerseyans want their health care protected and the government open.

Reminder: Check out our voter resources page for information on voting by mail, early in-person, or on Election Day.

— Chairman LeRoy J. Jones, Jr.

New Jersey has the best public school system in the country. But there are still deep disparities in the quality of education depending on where a family lives in our state. Mikie believes this is unacceptable and has concrete plans to change this reality.

As governor, Mikie will modernize the school funding formula, provide no cost school meals, expand mental health care services and high-impact tutoring, open more magnet and vocational schools to address segregation, and bolster community school programs.

Jack? He defended school segregation, backed the Trump administration’s cuts to the Department of Ed, and his proposed school funding formula would defund Abbot districts and raise property taxes.

Jack and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Debate

There isn’t a debate stage Mikie can’t handle. Jack…not so much. While I would suggest you go back and watch Mikie kill it on stage, I’ll give you some of the lowlights here of what Jack had to say:

  • When asked how he’d grade President Trump’s second term, Jack said “I certainly give the president an ‘A.’ I think he’s right about everything that he’s doing.” Energy prices are skyrocketing, millions of Americans are losing their health care, and inflation is going up. As Mikie put it, Trump deserves an F.

  • Recently, the Trump administration put a freeze on funding for our country’s most significant infrastructure project, the Gateway Tunnel. As governor, Mikie will take this court to undo this attack. Jack? He refuses to stand up to Trump, putting his political support over New Jerseyans.

  • Jack voted to give parental rights to rapists. When asked about it at the debate, he avoided answering. That’s indefensible.

  • Jack made millions profiting off the opioid crisis. His company created advertising materials focused on pain management that “appeared to downplay the dangers of opioids.” When asked about this at the debate, he was speechless. The next morning he went on the radio and joked about the tens of thousands of New Jerseyans killed by the opioid crisis.

Jack is out-of-touch with our top needs and beliefs. He’s just wrong for Jersey.

Only 25 days until Election Day…what are you up to if not volunteering? Let’s hit the doors and make the calls needed to mobilize our state in support of Mikie Sherrill, Dr. Dale Caldwell, and Democrats up and down the ballot.
