Hi John,
The government shutdown is hurting families across the country. Nicole Malliotakis is doing exactly what her party leaders want her to do. She refuses to negotiate. She refuses to listen. She refuses to lead.
That is the DC way. But it is not the Staten Island and Brooklyn way. Here, we live in diverse communities. We disagree sometimes, but we sit down and discuss it. We work things out. That is how we get things done.
I know this because I have spent my career as an educator bringing people together. I know what it means to listen and to find common ground. That is the kind of leadership Staten Island deserves. Nicole has shown that she cannot do it.
