A federal judge has temporarily blocked Trump from deploying the Texas National Guard in Chicago – finding no credible evidence of a “rebellion” in the state of Illinois.
Earlier this week, I led a letter to Greg Abbott with nine of my colleagues demanding he return our national guard troops to Texas – making clear that this deployment violates the rule of law.
And now a federal judge just confirmed it.
Donald Trump’s deployment of the National Guard in Los Angeles, D.C., Chicago, and Portland – against the wishes of state and local officials – is an affront to the rule of law.
And make no mistake: it’s a major escalation in his attempted authoritarian takeover.
I refuse to be silent about Texas guardsmen being used as political weapons against their fellow citizens. And me and my colleagues will continue to hold Greg Abbott accountable for his cowardly capitulation to Donald Trump. But I need your help.
