Oklahoma,

We're still locked in a Schumer Shutdown. Schumer, who's up in 2028 and NOT 2026, is scared of a primary. As a result, he won't let his Senate Democrat colleagues do the right thing and reopen the government. Instead, he's DEMANDING they stop paying the military and federal workers, many of whom live paycheck to paycheck. However, if he and his liberal friends won't do the right thing, the Senate GOP will. Not only will we continue to vote to reopen the government, we're continuing to confirm nominees at a record pace, we're passing legislation to strengthen our armed services, and our efforts are far from over in cutting waste, fraud, and abuse in Washington.

Even on day seven of the Schumer Shutdown, the Senate GOP was conducting business as usual. If Democrats refuse to fund the government and turn the lights back on, we'll confirm 107 Trump nominees in the dark. On Tuesday, we confirmed various nominees, from ambassadors to assistant secretaries, to implement President Trump's America First Agenda. We told the Democrats they could confirm nominees the easy way or the hard way. After they elected to receive the latter, we decided to end their historic obstruction and are continuing to confirm dozens of nominees en bloc—meaning in larger packages at one time.

The last time Teamsters President Sean O’Brien and I were in a hearing room, I was telling him to "stand his butt up." However, this time I asked him to stand up to shake my hand. President Trump has a way of bringing people together. On Wednesday, he brought Sean and me together during a hearing to discuss reforming the way private industry and laborers interact. Once a foe, I'm now thankful to call him a friend.

Watch our interaction in the hearing HERE.

Additionally, I recently joined Sean's podcast, Better Bad Ideas. Listen to the interview HERE.

On Thursday, after the Democrats finally agreed to quit stalling, the Senate passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This year's NDAA is chock-full of wins for Oklahoma and for the United States. At a time when America faces the greatest threat level since World War II, it's important we equip the military and our defense industry with the means to keep our warfighters mission-focused and ready. This legislation will reform the Pentagon for efficiency and reindustrialization, modernize the military for the next generation of warfare, and give pay raises to our brave men and women in uniform.

In addition to serving all Oklahomans, serving Oklahoma's veterans is an incredible honor. On Tuesday, I surprised dozens of veterans from the Oklahoma Warriors Honor Flight during their visit to the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, Virginia. In total, there were 67 Korean and Vietnam War veterans accompanied by volunteers, medics, and staff. There is no greater joy than honoring the brave American heroes who fought to protect the freedoms we hold dear. I've told many this, but my first ever visit to Washington, D.C. was on an Honor Flight with my grandfather, who served in World War II.

On Thursday, I joined U.S. Representative Stephanie Bice (R-OK) as a special guest on her Telephone Town Hall. We had thousands of Oklahomans call in to participate and got to as many questions as possible on a huge range of issues. We touched on the Schumer Shutdown, stressed the importance of cutting waste, fraud, and abuse, and discussed ways to end Washington's terrible spending habits.

Three decades ago, I was in high school, and Chuck Schumer was in the House of Representatives speaking out about the dangers of giving illegal immigrants taxpayer-funded benefits. Now he's shut down the government over it. On Tuesday, I joined Fox Business's Elizabeth MacDonald on Evening Edit to discuss Schumer's hypocrisy and his fears of losing a primary election... IN FOUR YEARS. He's the perfect example of why we need to vote out career politicians.
