Indivisibles,

For nearly a year, we’ve been urging Democratic leadership to act like a
real opposition party and actually fight back against this corrupt regime.
Finally, they’re listening.

In the Trump Shutdown fight, Democrats are finally wielding their power --
holding the line, winning the messaging fight, and putting Trump on the
defensive. Now, we need to have their backs.

Congressional Dems can’t win this showdown alone. Here’s what you need to
know, and how we can help hold the line.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Democrats have the momentum

So far, Democrats in Congress are holding strong in their fight to reverse
Trump’s historic healthcare cuts and prevent massive health insurance
price hikes. [ [link removed] ]We call that progress, and the signs of momentum are
pointing in Democrats’ favor:

Public opinion is decisively on our side. In [ [link removed] ]poll after poll, more
Americans -- including moderates and independents in particular -- blame
Trump and the GOP for this shutdown. And when surveys measure support for
the healthcare funds Dems are fighting for, they show [ [link removed] ]Democrats’
healthcare position is wildly popular; even a majority of Republican
voters support it!

Trump said he’d “like to see a deal made for healthcare.” This week, Trump
[ [link removed] ]shot his congressional cronies in the foot by admitting that something
needs to be done about the looming healthcare crisis (which he caused).
Yes, he walked it back a bit later -- but signs keep piling up that the
White House is nervous about taking blame for soaring healthcare costs.

Rank-and-file Republicans are cracking. Speaker Mike Johnson just canceled
a fourth week of House business in order to jam bipartisan negotiations;
even his own caucus is tiring of it. At least ½ a dozen House Republicans
have [ [link removed] ]publicly called out Johnson’s do-nothing strategy, and in a
[ [link removed] ]“heartbreaking” meme of a moment, [ [link removed] ]Marjorie Taylor Greene scorched
her own party for sitting back as healthcare costs double.

In short, Speaker Johnson and Leader Thune are getting signs from all
levels -- voters, fellow lawmakers, and the White House -- that what
Americans want and need is a bipartisan funding bill that averts Trump’s
crushing healthcare cuts.

We need to turn the heat up even more.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our next steps

The momentum is in our favor right now, but if we don’t keep pouring on
relentless pressure, we could lose that progress in an eyeblink.
Republicans need to keep hearing that it’s ON THEM to end this Trump
Shutdown. Democrats need to know we support them when they fight hard.

[ [link removed] ]Email your Republican senators to demand a bipartisan spending deal
that keeps healthcare affordable -- and remind them that they own this
TRUMP SHUTDOWN!

Trump and Republicans thought Democrats would fold like cheap lawn chairs,
but we’re reminding everyone there’s a force even more powerful than an
authoritarian bully -- we the people.

Let’s keep using our voices, and let’s win this fight.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
