Jeff Yass is a Wall Street gambler turned MAGA kingmaker, a billionaire who made his fortune playing the markets and is a major investor in TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance. In 2024, he spent over 46 million dollars supporting MAGA candidates in elections across the country. And now, Yass is trying to buy Trump his biggest gift wish of 2025: the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. The PA Supreme Court retention race is the most important race of 2025, and we aren’t exaggerating when we say Democracy itself is on the line here. If Yass’s spending successfully topples the court’s three-vote liberal majority next month, he’ll give Trump control of the body overseeing elections in the most important swing state for the upcoming ‘26 and ‘28 elections. Trump will then outlaw mail-in ballots, prevent Democratic ballots from being counted, and may even ban Democrats from appearing on ballots altogether. Trump’s new sugar daddy has reportedly committed to spending over 30 million dollars in this election, and Yass-connected dark money organizations launched a massive surprise spending spree in PA—flooding the zone with advertisements attacking the Democratic Justices and even using dirty tricks to try and fool voters: Earlier this summer, having caught wind of this incoming coup attempt, Defend Our Courts launched a desperate call to democrats from across the nation to come to PA’s aid. Having now raised nearly 3 million dollars from over 50,000 donors, we are one of the largest organizations pushing back against Yass’s attempts to buy this election. But with only 25 days left in the election, we are still being outspent by Yass’ dark money organizations 10 to 1. If the election were held today, Yass would likely succeed in buying the court. But if Democrats rally now like we did earlier this year to stop Elon Musk in Wisconsin, we can defeat Trump’s new sugar daddy.
