The Southern Poverty Law Center has designated October as Hate Crimes Awareness Month because for far too long, hate has plagued our country, chipped away at our democracy and violently targeted people of color, women, immigrants, LGBTQ+ communities, Jewish and Muslim Americans, and Indigenous communities.
