The truth is, the problem is systemic and can’t be brushed away with a quick fix.
Friend, today is World Homeless Day.
Every day, I hear from our community that this is one of the most important issues facing San Diego.
At times, it can feel like the problem is only getting worse, but there is hope. In May, the Regional Task Force on Homelessness reported a 7% drop in homelessness this year across San Diego County.
San Diego is in the midst of a historic housing and homelessness crisis.
The truth is, the problem is systemic and can’t be brushed away with a quick fix.
That’s why I have continually fought for REAL solutions, such as increasing access to affordable healthcare options, advocating for programs that connect people to stable housing, and investing in more affordable housing projects across county land.
San Diego needs leaders who understand the issues and lead with empathy for EVERYONE in our community.
It’s past time San Diego’s leaders make the needed investments to help get people off the street and into permanent housing. Let’s keep moving forward.
