Hello!
Governor Joe Lombardo says he plans to call a special legislative session, potentially to revive his failed film tax credit expansion to give handouts to his billionaire friends.
Let’s be clear about what that means: while Southern Nevada’s economy is struggling, Lombardo’s priorities are handouts to Hollywood and policies that would put more Nevadans behind bars.
Las Vegas has seen 2 million fewer visitors so far this year, a 7.8% drop that translates to $256.5 million in lost sales. Our local economy, built on tourism, is feeling the pain: Las Vegas lost 4,300 jobs from July to August, and Southern Nevada’s 5.6% unemployment rate is one of the highest in the nation. If this decline continues, it would mark the steepest downturn in more than half a century.
Joe Lombardo created this mess. His failed economic policies and reckless decisions have made life harder for working Nevadans, yet he refuses to take responsibility or offer real solutions. Instead of addressing the economic fallout he has fueled, he is doubling down on the same corporate giveaways and divisive politics that got us here.
Nevadans need leadership focused on stabilizing our economy, supporting local businesses, and helping working families, not another special session for corporate giveaways. Lombardo should be tackling the economic crisis head-on, not rolling out the red carpet for Hollywood.
If you agree that Nevada deserves better, chip in today to help us hold Joe Lombardo accountable and keep fighting for real solutions that put Nevadans first.
In solidarity,
