First, Trump unlawfully federalized California National Guard troops and deployed them to Los Angeles — under the guise of protecting federal personnel and buildings from “civil unrest.” 

Then, he not only used those troops for routine law enforcement operations that have nothing to do with their original deployment, but he also sent Guard members to both Portland and Chicago — undermining his claim that Los Angeles ‘needed’ troops on the ground.

Now, it’s clear that Trump wants to use the California National Guard as his own personal, traveling police force anywhere in the country, for as long as he wants.

This is a blatant and brazen abuse of military power on domestic land — violating the law and far exceeding any legitimate presidential authority.
