Today is World Mental Health Day. In Colorado and across the country, too many people still struggle in silence. Stigma, lack of resources, and barriers to care keep far too many of our friends, neighbors, and loved ones from getting the support they deserve. That has to change.
As Attorney General, I will fight to expand access to affordable mental health care, especially in rural and underserved areas, and make sure mental health care is treated as health care, not a luxury. I will work to invest in prevention programs that address the root causes of crime like trauma, addiction, and untreated mental illness. And I will support schools and families with resources that help children and young people build resilience and thrive.
We’ve all seen how stress, grief, and crisis can affect our communities — whether it’s veterans facing PTSD, young people struggling with depression and anxiety, or families impacted by substance use disorders.
We cannot afford to look away. Together, we can build a Colorado where no one has to suffer alone and where mental health support is accessible, affordable, and stigma-free.
