Fire Prevention Week: Charge into Fire Safety
It's Fire Prevention Week and the National Fire Protection Association is highlighting the importance of lithium-ion battery safety. These batteries power many everyday items, but if misused or improperly disposed of, they can cause fires. By following these simple steps, you can help keep your home and community safe:
- Buy only products with safety-tested certification marks, such as UL, ETL, or CSA.
- Charge devices using the proper cords and follow charging instructions.
- Recycle batteries at approved drop-off sites.

Mayor for a Day
The League of Minnesota Cities is hosting its annual "Mayor for a Day" Essay Contest, inviting 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students from across the state to share their ideas for improving their communities. Students are encouraged to think creatively and write about what they would do if they were mayor for a day.
