Hello Delaware Democrats,

My name is Evelyn Brady, and I am honored to serve as your new State Chair. Thank you for placing your trust in me to lead our party. If we haven’t met yet, I look forward to getting to know you and getting you involved!

I come to this role as a mom, former educator and union member, and a passionate advocate for voting and reproductive rights. It should come as no surprise that I am a proud Democrat.

Our party is committed to building from the ground up. In the weeks and months ahead, I’ll be in communities across our state listening, learning, and inviting you to join us in strengthening our Democratic Party. Together, we can ensure that our shared values are not only protected but also advanced for all Delawareans.

I’m excited for the work ahead, and I hope you’ll be a part of it.

Community Celebrations & Parades

July

  • Fourth of July Parade: I marched in Smyrna with U.S. Senator Chris Coons, Congresswoman Sarah McBride, State Auditor Lydia York, and Kent County Register of Wills DJ Cox.
  • Delaware State Fair: I joined Democrats from across the state at the Kent County Democrats’ table - and enjoyed all the food.

August

  • August Quarterly: I attended the celebration of 200+ years of African-American religious freedom in Wilmington, DE at the Chase Center, where Michael Eric Dyson delivered an inspiring keynote. 

September

  • Labor Day Rally & AFSCME Picnic: I joined many elected officials, including U.S. Senator Chris Coons, Governor Matt Meyer, and Councilman and Vice Chair Coby Owens in Wilmington to reaffirm our commitment to workers’ rights.
  • Sussex County Jamboree: Former Chair Jane Hovington was honored for her decades of service to Sussex County and Delaware.
  • Nuestras Raices Wilmington Hispanic Parade: In celebration of Hispanic Heritage, I marched with Wilmington City Democrats.
  • RD 10 Ice Cream Social: I joined committee members and neighbors for a fun meet & greet.
  • Bowers Beach Crab Feast: Kent County Register of Wills DJ Cox, Kent County Democratic Chair John Starke and I enjoyed crabs in support of the Bowers Beach Fire Company.

Campaigns & Advocacy: RD Special Election

  • Canvassing for Alonna Berry: State Senator Russ Huxtable and I knocked doors in Lewes and Milton with educators, county leaders, and legislators, including Speaker Melissa Minor-Brown.
  • Alonna Berry Fundraiser: Congresswoman Sarah McBride, the Daisey Family, and I hosted a fundraiser in Lewes in support of Alonna’s candidacy in the RD 20 special election.
  • Election Day in RD 20: I greeted voters at Lewes Elementary School before joining Alonna’s victory celebration at the University of Delaware Virden Retreat Center.

Fundraisers & Galas

August

  • DSCC Fundraiser: I was proud to support U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester’s historic DSCC fundraiser featuring U.S. Senators Cory Booker, Raphael Warnock, Angela Alsobrooks, and Governor Wes Moore in Martha’s Vineyard.

September

  • Democratic Governors Association (DGA) Reception: I joined Governor Matt Meyer at a fundraiser for the DGA.
  • Planned Parenthood Chocolate & Champagne Festival: As a board member, I proudly attended our annual gala where I was joined by elected officials in support of reproductive justice.
  • NAACP MOT (Middletown-Odessa-Townsend) Freedom Gala: I was honored to deliver the keynote address on the theme “The Power of Us.”

Party & Leadership Meetings

July

  • ASDC Training: State Party Chairs from across the country met in Las Vegas for training by the Association of State Democratic Chairs.
  • State Executive Committee Meeting: I presided over my first Delaware State Executive Committee.

August

  • DNC Summer Meeting: I attended my first Democratic National Committee meeting in Minneapolis. Chair Ken Martin laid out our priorities for the months ahead, including affordability for working families and protection of healthcare access. I also met Governor Tim Walz, Former DNC Chair Donna Brazile (with her dog, Zora!) and celebrated Vice Chair Coby Owens’ election as Eastern Region Representative for the DNC Black Caucus.
