Providing light during the darkest times in their lives.
YEMEN CRISIS BRIEFING

Dear John,

I wanted to make sure you saw our latest crisis briefing on Yemen, which was just released.

Our work together is providing light for Yemeni families who are facing some of the darkest times in their lives.

COVID-19 is surging across war-torn Yemen — with a death rate that is five times the global average. Civilians with pre-existing conditions are stuck in cramped spaces. In addition to fearing the pandemic, they are being terrorized by bombings, food and water shortages and cholera outbreaks.

Our work is making a lifesaving difference as Yemeni families face a triple emergency of war, COVID-19 and famine.

Vulnerable families in Yemen know they can count on us because of compassionate people like you, who are ensuring that they're not forgotten in this global pandemic.

IRC teams are working around the clock to contain the coronavirus outbreak and deliver urgent health care and nutrition to displaced families and those living in remote, hard-to-reach areas.

Here are some crucial ways supporters like you are helping us on the front lines in Yemen:
  • The IRC is supporting a COVID-19 isolation unit and other health facilities with protective gear and proper water and sanitation services.

  • We are training health workers in clinics and in our mobile health teams to identify COVID-19 symptoms and safely isolate and refer suspected cases.

  • Our mobile health teams are distributing critical information to Yemenis to inform them about how to protect themselves from COVID-19.

  • We are also continuing critical lifesaving programming, including health and nutrition assistance for children, reproductive health care for pregnant and lactating women, and providing cash for those who need it the most.
Because of supporters like you, our teams on the ground can take immediate action to respond to the nightmare scenario unfolding in Yemen.

Please take a minute to read about the progress that has been made possible in our latest crisis briefing. »

Thank you for standing with refugees in Yemen and crisis zones worldwide — and for being a source of light during these difficult times.
