While Trump’s health care crisis is causing millions of Americans to face massive cost increases due to Trump’s Big Ugly Bill, Democrats are fighting to pass a bipartisan budget that keeps the government open and ensures families can afford health care coverage.

In contrast, Mike Johnson is calling Democrats’ stance to defend healthcare a “wild wish list, a big government liberal nonsense.”

You can’t make this stuff up.

We are in the second week of the shutdown because Republicans refuse to fund health care. Due to their efforts to impose huge cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act, 500,000 Ohioans may see their premiums skyrocket, in some cases doubling, and millions more nationwide will feel the impact. That’s unacceptable.

To make matters worse, Speaker Johnson canceled ALL votes this week, and we haven’t had a House vote since September 19th. Republicans are hiding. They’re not showing up to do their job. And Americans are paying the price.

This is a mess made by Republicans, and Democrats are trying to clean it up. I vow to keep fighting to reopen the government and lower costs for Americans.
