** Better Bus Stops is Campaign of the Year!
------------------------------------------------------------
Hello Supporter
We were hugely honoured this week when our Better Bus Stops campaign won Campaign of the Year ([link removed]) at the Women in Green Business Awards!
The award shows real recognition of the importance of bus stops, which are often overlooked despite being the start and end points of more than 10 million journeys every day.
Our Better Bus Stops campaign came from the simple belief that bus stops should be accessible and attractive, and provide clear information about the buses that stop there. That's what bus passengers deserve, and it is key to getting more people to choose the bus.
Congratulations to our Director of Policy and Campaigns, Silviya Barrett, and the rest of the team!
** "Real-world results"
------------------------------------------------------------
The judges praised Better Bus Stops as an "innovative and impactful campaign," delivering "real-world results that are making sustainable transport more accessible."
We launched the campaign just 10 months ago, so it's really exciting to see the impact that it's already having:
* Our central ask was taken up by the Transport Select Committee (the group of MPs that advises Government on transport policy), which now recommends ([link removed]) that there should be a 'national bus stop standard'.
* The Government has promised ([link removed]) that its Bus Services Bill will provide powers for the Transport Secretary to issue statutory guidance on the design of bus stops, and to require local authorities to improve bus stops.
* Local authorities including Portsmouth, Greater Manchester and Blackpool have already used our Better Bus Stops report ([link removed]) in their reviews of bus stop infrastructure.
We couldn't have achieved this without our brilliant supporters, so thank you!
We have a lot more planned for this campaign. Too many bus stops still lack seating, shelter, and basic timetable information - but with your help we will change that.

All the best
