Volunteering Matters: awards, stories, ideas & training
Hello and welcome to the latest edition of Volunteering Matters!Time has just flown by and we want to make sure each and every volunteer gets a chance to be recognized, so...
we are extending the nomination deadline until next Friday, 17th October!
Nominate a volunteer for a Volunteer Ireland Award!
"My neighbor has gardened the whole town..."
"My grandad does loads for the local team..."
"My student's online campaign for recycling is brilliant..."
"Our friend's public murals just make me smile..."
We love hearing about the ripples of impact that the hard working and dedicated volunteers in your community have. Every year we get hundreds of stories of people volunteering their time and talents to better the world in Ireland and beyond.
The Volunteer Ireland Awards are the major annual initiative to celebrate volunteers in Ireland. The awards shine a light on the remarkable achievements of volunteers around the country by honoring them at a national level.
Every volunteer that is nominated will receive a thank you card from Volunteer Ireland. We want to let everyone who is nominated know that their contributions are greatly valued and that someone took the time to put them forward for an award.
The 2025 Volunteer Ireland Awards are made possible thanks to the support of the Department of Rural and Community Development and award partners Healthy Ireland.

Celebrate Charity Trustees' Week this November
Running from 10-14 November, Charity Trustees’ Week is a great big Thank You to the thousands of volunteers who, as charity trustees, oversee Ireland’s 11,500 registered charities.
It is organised in partnership by the Charities Regulator, Boardmatch Ireland, Carmichael, Charities Institute Ireland, Dóchas, Pobal, The Wheel, and Volunteer Ireland.
Now in its ninth year, the week celebrates and supports your tireless work and commitment with events and free resources to help you in your roles. There’s something for every trustee, whatever the size or purpose of your charity.
