Hello John,
I wanted to tell you about why I became a
Liberal Democrat. As a teacher, I saw first-hand the issues faced by
our schools and our education system. I could see the changes that
were needed, and I wanted to do something about it.
I looked
at what the political parties had to offer; which ones matched my
outlook on life and society, as well as where they stood on Education.
Only the Liberal Democrats were close to the kind of future I wanted
to see in our schools, and I wanted to contribute to that change.
Today I am so proud to be the education spokesperson for our
Party as well as representing the views of my constituents as an MP. I
am also proud that I belong to a party that includes its members in
the democratic discourse, where your ideas can be our policies of the
future, our members can decide our direction, and who they think would
be the best person to lead us.
The COVID-19 crisis has exposed
many problems in this country, from the climate crisis, to inequality,
the pressure on our schools and our NHS. I want to lead the Liberal
Democrats in tackling these issues head on as we move out of this
crisis.
Throughout my campaign I have, and will continue to
listen to our members and supporters up and down the country. I want
you all to be members of the Liberal Democrats and invested in my
leadership as we move forward together.
There is still time to
have your voice heard in this election. Anyone who signs up as a
member before midnight on the 9th of July can take part in the
election and vote for the next Leader.
