We’re on the ninth day of the government shutdown, and instead of working on a real solution with Democrats, Republicans are nowhere to be found.
Speaker Mike Johnson and House GOP leadership have made it clear: they’d rather avoid talking about the healthcare crisis than negotiate.
Some of the deepest cuts they’ve already made will impact rural communities in southern New Mexico the hardest, John, and I won’t stand for that.
Republicans are targeting the health care subsidies millions of families here rely on — the same support that helps people afford doctor visits, prescriptions, and basic care.
If we don’t stop these cuts now using whatever leverage we have, premiums could double or even triple for folks across our district.
And while they hold the government hostage, Republicans are busy working behind the scenes to flip NM-02. Big outside money is already pouring in, and national Republicans are lining up candidates who are MAGA loyalists to tow the party line and continue the chaos.
