Here’s how our democracy is supposed to function, John:

1. Candidates lay out plans to try to appeal to as many voters as possible.

2. Voters use that information to decide which politicians will represent them.

3. Politicians are sworn into office with a duty to serve their constituents. And if leaders don’t follow the will of the people, they get voted out of office.

But this process gets completely warped by relentless, extreme gerrymandering:

1. Candidates run on extreme agendas because they only have to worry about winning primaries…

2. …because politicians have drawn district lines to secure seats for their own party…

3. …and voters don’t get a fair chance to hold those leaders accountable in competitive elections.

When politicians can insulate themselves from accountability by cherry-picking voters, it’s toxic for democracy.

Extremists around the country have been racing to pass new, mid-decade gerrymanders to silence even more voters and grab even more unearned power, from Texas and Missouri to Indiana and Florida.

But with your support, we’re fighting for fair maps to put power where it belongs — in the hands of voters. We’re rallying Americans to speak out to their lawmakers against map manipulation, pushing for redistricting reform, and building organizing muscle so we can continue responding to new threats as they emerge.

Please make a donation of any amount right now to help stop gerrymandering from distorting our democracy — and help make sure our leaders need to respond to the will of the people. → [link removed]
