Let’s get a few facts straight about mail voting:

* It’s one of the more secure, most accessible methods of casting a ballot.
* Millions of Americans rely on it.
* It’s essential for seniors, military families, disabled voters, and rural communities.
* Study after study shows fraud is virtually nonexistent.
* And Donald Trump himself voted by mail in 2020.

But now Trump has launched a crusade to ban mail voting as part of his attempt to restrict which Americans have a voice in our democracy:

Republican extremists want to win elections by keeping voters they deem “undesirable” away from the ballot box. They place different obstacles in the process to try to prevent those Americans from voting.

And if elections don’t go their way, they can point back to the disinformation they spread about different voting methods to try to claim there’s been fraud. Exhibit A: Trump has told lies about so-called fraud to try to discredit mail voting ever since its widespread use in the presidential election that he lost.

So we have to be ready to protect access to the ballot box, and we have to be able to promote trusted, accessible information about voting in the face of MAGA suppression and disinformation — but this work relies on grassroots support.
