John,

Our government is shut down. Families are worried about their next paycheck. What is Donald Trump doing? Finding new ways to make life harder for the people who need help the most.

Trump and his allies are looking directly at Social Security, searching for ways to cut benefits for more than 750,000 Americans. Their latest proposal would make it harder for Americans, especially older Americans, with disabilities to qualify for Social Security Disability payments.

For decades, the Social Security Administration has considered age, work experience, and education when determining whether someone is capable of working. Trump wants to eliminate age as a factor altogether, forcing older people with disabilities to keep working no matter their condition. It is cruel, and it would also strip critical support from around 80,000 widows and children.

Once again, Trump is testing his harshest ideas on people who can least afford to bear them. Trump and the GOP promised they would never touch Social Security. They said they would protect seniors and working families. Those were lies. Every time they gain power, they put these benefits back on the chopping block.

Social Security isn't safe while Trump and his allies are in charge. We can't let up – we must continue to fight back. Add your name right now and tell Trump and his Republicans to leave Social Security alone >> [link removed]
