This one is personal to me.

When I was lobbying for the Heartbeat Law in 2019 - a courageous bill now
saving lives - we knew the vote was going to be close…and so did the other side.

All the usual pro-abortion suspects had a list of targets, and #1 on their
list of Republicans was a newly-elected Representative from Athens named
Houston Gaines. Right-out-of-college, Houston ran in a special election in
2017, lost, and then narrowly won in a 2018 rematch. Having worked hard,
experienced defeat already, and feeling like his recent victory was tenuous,
Houston came into the 2019 session committed to keeping the seat in Republican
hands.

It was this noble objective that the pro-abortion lobby used against him as
they lobbied him at “the ropes.” They threatened his seat, pledged to unseat
him, and generated overwhelming calls of opposition from his district.

Yet, when the time came to cast a vote to secure the most significant pro-life
win in Georgia history, Houston Gaines - fairly convinced that a vote in favor
of Heartbeat was a vote that would ultimately end his nascent political career
- nonetheless took the bold, righteous path.

Houston Gaines, at just 24 years old, was the deciding vote to pass this
historic legislation, and countless babies in Georgia have been born because of
his courage.

After his vote, pro-aborts targeted Houston’s home. They threatened him. He
lost friends and supporters. And, you better believe they came after him come
campaign season. Leftists from all over the country poured in money to beat
Houston in 2020.

Yet, when the votes were counted, God had blessed and rewarded Houston for his
faithfulness. He actually expanded his margins from the prior election!

Since that early vote, I have seen Houston time and again show leadership,
fortitude, and a willingness to do the right thing - no matter the cost. He
brings a winsomeness, a fresh energy, relational capital, incredible knowledge
of the process, and a natural leadership capacity to everything he does. Very
quickly, he has emerged as one of our go-to leaders at the Capitol!

That’s why, in an election season where I’m telling most candidates that I
need several months to observe their campaigns to determine whether an
endorsement makes sense, I’m eager to make an endorsement in the 10th
Congressional District.

I’ve already seen all I need to see from Houston Gaines. I’ve seen his
commitment to principles, his faith in action, and the winning results from his
leadership. What I’ve seen is the man God has raised up to be the next
Congressman from the 10th, and I’m honored to make Houston Gaines our first
endorsement of the 2026 cycle.

As your Congressman, Houston will have big shoes to fill. Mike Collins has
been a friend and ally, and he’s been a winsome warrior. However, I’m confident
in Houston’s ability to pick up the torch, deliver for the district, make you
proud, deliver conservative wins, and rapidly prove himself to be a much-needed
leader in the halls of Congress.

For those weighing a run for this seat, I’m urging unity behind a candidate
that has shown he has what it takes for such a time as this. He’s been through
the fire, taken the hits, and proven to have a spine of steel.

A pointless primary only plays into the hands of the Left, eager to see
conservative resources burned up in “friendly fire,” detracting from a united
front in November. With Houston Gaines on the ticket, I’m encouraged by our
odds of keeping the Governor’s Mansion in conservative hands and ousting the
failure of a United States Senator currently representing California in
Georgia’s name in Washington.

Proud to Stand with Houston Gaines,
Cole
