Our first opponent has jumped into the race to try and defeat me next November: Republican Peter Oberacker.

I know we just flipped this seat from red to blue last year, but we’re already a target for Republicans. They see my seat as one of their top pickup opportunities next year, so they’re pulling out all the stops to try to unseat me. They’ve already spent most of the year running ads attacking me and lying about my record. Now, they officially have a candidate in the race.

Our team has been working hard throughout the year to prepare for this moment, but with Republicans already bringing in record-breaking fundraising hauls and naming me a top target ahead of next year’s midterm elections, we still have so much work ahead of us. While Peter Oberacker will be bolstered by the GOP’s massive war chest, we’re completely grassroots, so we can’t waste a single second.
