In the middle of a government shutdown that's already hurting families across Washington, Donald Trump just made things worse for folks across our district and state.

He canceled $1 billion in promised funding for the Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Hub— one of the largest clean energy projects in the country that was set to power our region's economy for decades.

This wasn't just another federal program, it was a bipartisan priority that both Republicans and Democrats in the Northwest worked together to secure in order to make our region a national leader in clean hydrogen energy. But now, thanks to Trump's petty politics, Washington State is losing out on:

* $1 billion total investment
* $5 million in private investment
* $4 million for worker training
* 10,000 good-paying jobs across Washington and the Pacific Northwest
* A cleaner, more reliable energy future—including hydrogen power for aviation, trucking, and manufacturing

john, at a time when we need more clean energy than ever before, the president is working over time to strip Washington State of jobs, investment, and opportunity.

He's taking away our region's leadership in the world's energy future, and frankly, he's doing it in a way that feels like retaliation against blue states. But let's make one thing clear: This was a bipartisan effort because both Republicans and Democrats understood the positive impact it would have for Washingtonians—and Trump still went ahead with canceling this vital funding. That's NOT real leadership. It's plain wrong.
