Here is

ADL’s latest statement on the fast-evolving and heartening ceasefire plans.

We welcome the announcement of a ceasefire agreement that will finally — after two long, excruciating years — bring home all the remaining hostages from Gaza in the coming days. We join the hostage families and all of Am Yisrael in hopeful anticipation and cautious relief. Our hearts will not rest until all of our 48 brothers and sisters are safely home.

How 10/7 Has Profoundly Reshaped Jewish Americans

A Portrait of Antisemitic Experiences in the U.S., 2024-2025

A

comprehensive new study from ADL and Jewish Federations of North America found over half (55%) of Jewish Americans experienced at least one form of antisemitism in the past 12 months, and 57% believe that antisemitism is now a normal Jewish experience.

Moreover, nearly one-in-five respondents were either physically assaulted, physically threatened or verbally harassed because of their Jewish identity in the past year. Additionally, over one-third witnessed an incident of actual or threatened antisemitic violence.

The study also reveals American Jews are experiencing psychological effects and have significant safety concerns, including developing worst-case scenario plans (33%) and plans to flee the country (14%).

While it is profoundly sad that Jewish Americans are discussing worst-case scenarios, the report also highlighted incredible resilience, as nearly two-thirds of those who directly experienced antisemitism are responding by deepening their Jewish involvement.

What’s News

Congressional Action Marking Two Years Since 10/7: This week, bipartisan Members of Congress introduced three ADL-backed measures to honor the victims of 10/7, educate future generations and reaffirm America’s commitment to combating antisemitism. The October 7 Commemoration Resolution condemns Hamas’ atrocities and reaffirms Israel’s right to self-defense; the October 7 Remembrance Education Act directs the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum to develop a curriculum about the attacks; and the October 7 Gold Medal Act would award the Congressional Gold Medal to the American victims and survivors.

International Solidarity After Manchester Attack: In the wake of the deadly Yom Kippur attack that killed two at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation in Manchester, England, ADL and fellow members of the J7 Large Communities’ Task Force Against Antisemitism came together to reaffirm our steadfast solidarity with the British Jewish community, to express appreciation for the widespread condemnation of this act of hate and to push once more for governments, law enforcement and societies worldwide to take threats against the Jewish community seriously and ensure our safety.

MAKING PROGRESS WITH ADL

CA Antisemitism Bill Crosses Finish Line: Jewish students and parents can rest a little easier because after months of tireless advocacy from ADL and dozens of groups across the state, AB 715 — a landmark bill to counter antisemitism in K-12 schools — is now law. We thank Governor Newsom for his commitment toward making Jewish students in California safer. The legislature and Governor have shown tremendous leadership this year in taking meaningful action to strengthen the state’s and schools’ response to antisemitism.

Keep Synagogues Safe. We must act now to keep our Jewish institutions, schools and houses of worship safe. The Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) is essential for helping houses of worship and other institutions add urgently needed protection. Current funding levels are insufficient, leaving many institutions vulnerable. Congress must act now. We need at least $500 million in NSGP funding.

A recent ADL survey revealed that many Jewish faculty have considered leaving their college campuses and associations because of antisemitism. ADL’s Masha Zemtsov joins @scottarichman on a new #FromTheFrontlines ADL podcast to discuss our findings and more.

Kudos to German Chancellor @_FriedrichMerz for pushing back hard against the campaign to exclude Israel from the popular Eurovision song contest. Targeting the Jewish state for boycotts doesn’t solve differences but only spreads divisiveness.

More crushing antisemitism news from the UK. 35% of British Jews feel less safe, according to a report released today, up from 9% before Oct 7. And that survey was fielded before the murderous attack on a Manchester synagogue. 32% reported experiencing at least one antisemitic incident during 2024.
