I still think about the final vote count in my race against Lauren Boebert—we came just 546 votes shy of flipping a solid Republican district.

It was an impossible race that we almost won. And losing by such a tiny margin taught me important lessons about winning in America today, and about the dangers of writing certain parts of the country off as unwinnable.

In that race, we ignored the conventional wisdom. We drove thousands of miles, talked to every kind of voter, and focused relentlessly on common-sense issues—water, housing, jobs, and just stopping the political circus. I didn't try to be the perfect Democrat; I simply tried to be the right leader for my community.

I founded Win the Center because I believe this isn't just a local strategy; it’s the national strategy. I refuse to stand by and watch other Democrats lose winnable seats because they’re too afraid to run the right race. Our mission is to take those hard-earned lessons—the blueprint for earning the center—and translate them into success for tough-race candidates across the country.

Right now, we are identifying the pragmatists who can flip seats and stop the extremist agenda in its tracks.
