Republicans want to confuse voters by playing the blame game, so let’s set the record straight.

Donald Trump and Republicans are wholly responsible for shutting down the government. That is a fact.

And they’re threatening to make this as painful as possible so they can have their way.

We must stand together to demand Republicans come to the table and negotiate a budget that works for all of us — not just Donald Trump and the wealthy few. Will you help me reach 5,000 signatures to send a strong message by midnight?

I’m doing my best to reopen the government, but Republicans (who control the House, Senate, and presidency) refuse to show up.

Instead of working with Democrats to protect Americans’ healthcare, Republicans would rather shut everything down.

Here’s why:

They benefit from deflecting blame and avoiding discussions about the fact that if the ACA tax credits expire without an extension, millions of Americans, including more than 800,000 North Carolinians, could see their premiums double — or even triple.

That’s simply unaffordable, especially in Donald Trump’s economy.

Real lives are at stake, and we deserve better than a federal budget that caters to the 1% at the expense of the rest of us.
