Hi John,
I am pleased to announce that our campaign has earned the endorsement of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO). For over 60 years, they have worked tirelessly to make sure that all working people have safe working conditions, benefits, equal opportunities, and paychecks that accurately reflect their hard work. In Florida, they represent over 500 local labor unions, 10 councils, and more than 1 million retired and current members.
From the beginning of my career in the Florida legislature to my current position as your representative in Washington, DC, I have fiercely advocated for workers' rights to organize, collectively bargain, and protect their healthcare and pensions. I am proud to do this work because I believe that hardworking Floridians deserve a representative who stands with them and always puts their best interests at the forefront.
This term, I proudly voted for the "Moving Forward" National Infrastructure package that protects Davis-Bacon prevailing wages and creates millions of high paying green jobs, as well as the PRO Act to protect workers' rights to collectively bargain, raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour, secure family leave and sick pay for US military and federal workers, and ensure COVID-19 family and sick pay for all workers.
During my next term in Congress, I will continue working across the aisle to pass critical legislation that prioritizes workers and establishes justice in the workplace. I do not take your support for granted and promise to always use my platform to fight for those who have dedicated their lives to making Central Florida what it is today.
