I can hardly believe that we are approaching the 6th Anniversary of that tragic day when Westminster forced abortion on Northern Ireland. It breaks my heart to know that since then, over 8,490 innocent little babies have been brutally murdered by abortion. That figure, released last November, is devastating but the true death toll will be even higher now.
 
To mark this solemn anniversary, I have organised a LIFE CHAIN in Belfast on Saturday 18th October at 2pm. I invite you to stand with me at the front of Belfast City Hall in remembrance of all those innocent babies who have lost their lives to Westminster’s unjust and barbaric legislation.

The theme of this year's Life Chain is: "THE CHILD IN THE WOMB IS ONE OF US"
 
When I think about the horror of abortion, I am reminded of the words of Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel: “To forget would be not only dangerous but offensive; to forget the dead would be akin to killing them a second time.” Precious Life will never forget those children. We will never rest and never give up until every child in the womb is protected and their personhood restored in law, policy, and practice in Northern Ireland.
 
And as the Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” Abortion is the defining human rights issue of our time and we must never be silent.
 
I have no doubt we will ultimately win this battle. Scripture gives us hope: “We must never get tired of doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)

• inspire a new generation to defend unborn babies, so that abortion becomes not only illegal but unthinkable.
 
Here is just a glimpse of what we’ve achieved together so far this year:

• In March, we held a powerful Pro-Life Retreat, deepening our members’ commitment through prayer, talks, and spiritual renewal.

 

• Later that month, we held a Life Chain marking the date Westminster’s abortion legislation was enacted in Northern Ireland.

 

• In April, we took our Baby Shoes Display to the Northern Ireland Government at Stormont, which made a stark and moving statement about the reality of the many babies who lives have been lost.

 

• In July, thousands joined us in Dublin for the All-Ireland Rally for Life—the largest pro-life gathering in Ireland.

 

• In August, our Annual Pro-Life Summer Roadshow travelled across Northern Ireland, bringing the truth about abortion straight to the people, into towns, cities, and border communities.

 

• During the Roadshow, we launched a vital New Leaflet exposing the Northern Ireland political parties that support the killing of unborn babies, and explaining to people how they can challenge these politicians in forthcoming elections

And just last week we staged a protest outside the SDLP's Annual Conference to expose this Party's extreme pro-abortion stance.

I also spoke at a National Pro-Life Conference on "Building a Pro-Life Ireland".
