Hello friend,
In recent years, popular uprisings against unjust debt have swept the globe. Time and again, campaigners and activists are forcing monumental shifts in the name of economic justice – from government U-turns to regime change. At the same time, we’re also seeing increasingly brutal crackdowns on people challenging unjust debt.
Our online event, Debt and democracy, will explore how debt-fuelled economic instability is giving rise to authoritarianism in countries in crisis – and what we can do about it.
Join us on Thursday 23 October to hear directly from the experiences of activists in Pakistan and Egypt – and learn how you can be part of the fight-back.

Around the world activists and campaigners are resisting a debt crisis of epic proportions that continues to push people into poverty. But governments are using increasingly repressive ways to silence them.
In Egypt, the economic crisis created by the debt-austerity trap has been used by authoritarian leaders to justify their rule, presenting themselves as the only solution while maintaining the very cycles of instability they claim to resolve.

Join us on Thursday 23 October to hear from activists who are resisting ([link removed]) – often in the face of increasingly hostile regimes – to demand action on the debt crisis and challenge debt-fuelled authoritarianism.
In solidarity,
