News from Congressman Mike Levin

Dear Neighbor,

A week ago, on October 1st, the government shut down. I want to give you an update on where things stand and share a few resources.

My office is open and will remain fully functional throughout the duration of this shutdown. We are working hard to ensure constituents are getting the help and support they need. For more information on federal agencies and what a shutdown means for our community, visit my website

To all the federal workers: know that I am with you every step of the way. The Trump Administration’s attempts to fearmonger and denigrate workers are unacceptable, and I will work to ensure you receive backpay. Thank you for the work you do to make our communities better. If my office can support you in any way, please contact us at (760) 599-5000 or email me if we can be of service.

I was in Encinitas last week to sound the alarm on rising health care costs. Here are the facts: a report from the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation found that if the Affordable Care Act tax credits expire, the average premium will go from $888 to $1,904 a year, and a 60-year-old couple making $85,000 will see their health care costs increase by $22,600 annually. These credits don’t only benefit those on Covered California, they keep all of our health care premiums lower.

I’m working to find solutions that lower costs for my constituents—not raise them—and I firmly believe this is why we must permanently extend ACA tax credits. If you’ve received a notice and want to share your story about how the rising health care costs are impacting you and  your family, please tell me here.

If you have questions about my work or need help with a federal agency, please don’t hesitate to contact my office. You can send me an email through my website, call my Carlsbad office at (760) 599-5000, or call my Dana Point office at (949) 281-2449. For updates on my work on behalf of our communities, follow me on SubstackFacebook, X, Instagram, Threads and YouTube at @RepMikeLevin, and on Bluesky at @Levin.House.Gov.

Sincerely,
