You know, I made a mistake early on:
From all the movies that we see growing up about heroes and villains, I thought that fascist takeover attempts were going to be architected by evil geniuses.
I was not expecting how unearned, nepotistic, mediocre, and just dumb so many of the people architecting this were going to be and it works because of brute force.
You can do anything through brute force, but it's not sophisticated and it does not merit our intellectual respect.
That's my thought of the day.
And even to that, that's why the right says: “you were a bartender, you were a bartender” to kind of project their insecurities onto me, but, I did something. I ran for Congress and won because of the incredible support from my neighbors.
Republicans want us to resign ourselves to cynicism but giving up is a privilege we can’t afford. Through solidarity we can make a new world, a better country, where our work has dignity and our lives have respect.
I can’t do this work without you — the grassroots supporters who have had my back every step of the way. I don't curry favor with billionaires or host exclusive fundraising events. This campaign's average donation floats around $17-20.
Together, we’ve built a movement that won’t back down. Thank you for being a part of it.
Help us continue the fight with a grassroots contribution today.
In solidarity,
Alexandria
