John, with the government shutdown in full effect — I wanted to take this moment to reach out, share a few updates, outline what we’re fighting for, and most importantly, take this opportunity to hear from YOU on your thoughts and concerns about the government shutdown.

  SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS

Here are a few updates:

  • Democrats and our staff are here working for YOU. We’re hosting telephone town halls with thousands of Americans tuning in, we’re answering calls and questions, we’re providing resources, and we’re standing by to negotiate a solution whenever the House GOP finally decides to come to the table.

  • House Republicans are on week 3 of vacation, while millions of Americans are facing halts and delays to programs and services impacted by the shutdown, a massive spike in healthcare costs, and potential furloughs and layoffs.

  • Trump is threatening retaliation on the American people for his own party’s refusal to prevent the government shutdown despite holding all the power.

  • House Republicans are yet again avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.

Here’s why my colleagues and I are fighting so hard:

  • We made it clear to the GOP that if they want to pass budgets, they need to work with us to lower healthcare costs and reverse the damage inflicted by the Big Ugly BS Bill passed earlier this year.

  • The GOP’s budget did NOT include extending tax credits that help millions of Americans pay for their ACA Premiums.

What does this mean for the American people?

  • Without ACA tax credits, 22 million Americans could see their healthcare costs more than DOUBLE in just a few weeks.

  • 24,000 folks in PA-05 alone will see their healthcare costs rise if Republicans let the ACA tax credits expire.

  • For the average family of four earning $64,000 a year, annual premiums would rise by 327%.

This is what we’re up against, and this is why we are continuing to fight. While Republicans gave up and went home, my staff and my colleagues remain here answering to the American people.

Today, I want to hear from you about this shutdown. What are your concerns, questions, and priorities about this GOP shutdown? Let me and my team know here >>

Thank you for letting us know your thoughts on what your family is facing. I’ll continue to keep you posted on what’s happening in Washington and how it could impact you.

More soon,

Mary Gay
