Johh, government shutdowns hurt real people. And right now, the first people feeling that pain are federal workers.

Since Donald Trump returned to office, he has been on a revenge rampage against agencies and against public servants who refuse to bow to his agenda. Since January, more than 200,000 federal workers have been fired, and over a dozen agencies have been gutted.

With this shutdown, thousands of hard-working people have been furloughed. Many can't go to work or collect a paycheck. Others are being forced to work without pay at all. Donald Trump has made it clear he is going to use the shutdown as an opportunity to cut even more jobs from the federal workforce.

The GOP wants you to think of federal workers as distant, as if their lives and work do not touch yours. But the truth is, they are the men and women who show up every single day to keep this country running. They support schools nationwide. They plan for natural disasters. They protect consumers from corporate abuse. They care for our national parks. They are our neighbors and friends who want what every family wants — to build a better life for themselves and the people they love.
