![]() Last month, I wrapped up my 10-stop “Give ‘Em Hell” town hall tour. I traveled over 450 miles across Oregon’s 5th District and reached over 42,000 constituents to hear directly from them and understand how I can better represent our community in Congress. I’ve heard a lot of concerns from my constituents from all political parties, but one concern has been universal: access to healthcare. Oregonians are worried about the viability of rural hospitals, the availability of medical providers, and the cost — which could get worse thanks to the GOP’s Medicaid cuts. While my Republican colleagues try to run and hide from their constituents after cutting their healthcare, I’m showing up to hear from Oregonians and bring their concerns back with me to Congress to keep fighting to restore Medicaid funding and ensure everyone can get the care they need without breaking the bank. But here’s the thing: numbers count. Right now, Republicans are in full control of our federal government, so we simply don’t have the numbers to block their attempts to cut programs like Medicaid. If we want to stand up to the GOP’s trash agenda and fight for affordable and accessible healthcare, we have to show up at the midterms next year and help flip the House blue.
