Pritzker in STRONG opposition to Donald Trump’s assault on Chicago.

What we’ve seen in recent weeks should horrify all of us.

President Trump is waging a militarized campaign of intimidation against our own citizens.

His decision to send the Texas National Guard into Illinois – over the strenuous objections of our Governor and local officials – is a shocking and dangerous abuse of power.

And President Trump is using ICE like his own paramilitary, turning federal forces on our own people.

ICE agents are detaining elected officials, using tear gas on protestors, children, and even Chicago police officers.

We’ve seen federal agents indiscriminately pick up people simply because they are Brown or Black and then check their credentials.

We’ve seen dangerous ICE raids wreaking havoc in our communities. Children zip-tied. Elderly residents thrown into vans for hours.

And now, he’s threatening to invoke the Insurrection Act to bypass court rulings that ordered him to follow the law.

Illinois is not a war zone, and our people are not props. We will not yield to Trump.

Look, I’m proud to be an immigrant. These are tough times for our communities and so many Americans who have stories like mine.

I’ll never hesitate from defending our democracy and the rule of law. What we’re seeing is un-American, disgraceful, and dangerous.
