Currently, the federal government is shut down — and millions of Americans are feeling the impact.

With a government shutdown and health insurance premiums set to double for more than 20 million Americans, House Republican leadership has decided that the U.S. House of Representatives won’t even come to work this week.

That means that while federal workers face furloughs, families worry about rising health care costs, and communities across Georgia feel the strain, Congress isn’t doing its job.

Americans across the country get up each morning and go to work, and they rightfully expect the same from those elected to represent them. Overwhelming majorities of Americans want us to stop health care costs from rising and to end the government shutdown now.

I’ve joined my Democratic colleagues in calling on House Republican leadership to bring Congress back to Washington immediately so we can end this shutdown and deliver relief to hardworking families. Add your name to join me in calling on Congress to return to work and end this shutdown now.
