Donald Trump keeps escalating the invasion of Chicago.

In a Truth Social post, Trump called for Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker to be jailed, simply for standing up to his unconstitutional power grab. This comes as he deploys National Guard troops into Democratic-led cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, and D.C. over the objections of local leaders.

Let’s be clear: this isn’t “law and order.” It’s authoritarianism.

Trump is weaponizing the military to intimidate political opponents and punish communities that won’t bend to his will. When state and local leaders push back, he calls for their arrest. This is not how democracy works — this is how it ends.

Governor Pritzker said it best: “Trump is now calling for the arrest of elected representatives checking his power. What else is left on the path to full-blown authoritarianism?”
