Illinois is suing Donald Trump.
Earlier this week, Trump announced plans to send the National Guard into our state without the authorization of Governor Pritzker.
Let me be clear: This is not leadership — it’s an abuse of power. And we will not let Trump’s authoritarian tactics stand in Illinois.
Trump has been deploying the National Guard across the country to create a climate of fear and intimidation. He wants to silence political opposition and punish communities that refuse to fall in line.
Now, he’s manufactured a crisis in Chicago. ICE is targeting our neighborhoods, racially profiling residents, and detaining people without cause — and Trump is using the chaos — that he created — to justify sending in the troops.
I will not stand for it.
As Illinois’ Lieutenant Governor, I’ve seen firsthand how Illinois communities come together through cooperation, not intimidation. Sending armed forces into our streets without consent does nothing to keep people safe — it only fuels fear and division.
Governor Pritzker and I have always stood firm in our belief that states have the right to govern themselves — and that no president is above the law. And we won’t back down. That’s why I’m proud Illinois is taking legal action to defend our residents and our democracy.
But this fight isn’t just in the courts — it’s happening at every level of government. And it needs to be stronger.
We need more leaders in the U.S. Senate who won’t hesitate to stand up to Trump’s authoritarian overreach. I will be that fighter — but I need you with me.
Can you chip in whatever you can afford to my campaign today? Together, we’ll defend democracy, protect our communities, and ensure Illinois remains a beacon of justice and strength.

We are stronger when we stand together — and we will always meet power with principle.
With gratitude,
