I hope you're all holding up as we navigate today’s complex political, legal, and socio-economic challenges. I'm reaching out with important updates and a call to action to help defend our human rights and reproductive freedoms.
SisterLove has launched its legal arm, the Justice, Law, and Policy Project (JLPP), to strengthen the fight for our rights, health, and justice. JLPP is grounded in Black feminist theory and the reproductive justice framework, using Movement Lawyering to support impacted communities through holistic, community-led legal advocacy.
Our first major initiative is the “Know Your Rights: You Deserve Care Without Fear” campaign. A comprehensive legal toolkit will soon follow, offering key resources on maternal health, abortion access, and patient protection.
As part of our campaign, we’re hosting the Maternal Health Tribunal, a community-centered alternative space for truth-telling, collective healing, and building power outside of courtrooms and clinics. The Tribunal is designed to uplift community voices through reproductive justice storytelling, ensuring lived experiences remain central to the movement.
We invite individuals, families, healthcare providers, birth workers, and advocates to share their experiences, whether of harm, survival, support, or fear, during the perinatal period. If you or a loved one has been impacted by poor maternal care or Georgia’s restrictive reproductive health laws, this space is for you.
We are offering various methods for narrative healing below:
-
Tell your story in writing
-
Meet with the SisterLove team virtually
-
Meet with the SisterLove team in-person at the Motherhouse in Atlanta, honored as the birthplace of birth justice.
We’re preparing to host a Maternal Health Tribunal Virtual Event in 2026, focused on confronting obstetric racism and violence. This event will provide a platform for individuals and families to share their perinatal care experiences and call for systemic change in Georgia’s healthcare system.
