john,
Right now, our government is in a Republican shutdown that could've been avoided.
Federal workers are worried about their next paycheck and families are worried about how they'll keep the lights on or pay for groceries. And instead of offering relief, Donald Trump is looking for new ways to make things worse.
His administration is floating a plan to cut Social Security disability benefits—removing age as a factor in deciding whether someone is too disabled to work. That means older Americans who are looking to retire with dignity could be suddenly told they need to return to work and be denied their benefits.
If Trump gets his way, up to 750,000 seniors, veterans, and workers lose their benefits over the next decade. That's 750,000 people who might be forced to retire early and take 30% smaller monthly payments for life.
Trump and his allies promised they wouldn't touch Social Security. They promised to protect our seniors and ensure everyone would have their benefits when the time comes. But now, they're turning their backs on that promise. They're playing politics with something that millions of Americans depend on.
Let's be clear, john: Social Security isn't a handout, it's something people earned. Every paycheck, every deduction was a promise that if you worked hard your whole life, this country would be there for you after retirement.
Now, that promise is under attack.
Add your name to our petition now to demand Trump and his GOP yes-men keep their hands OFF of Social Security. >>
Thank you,
Team Schrier
