I’m a daughter of Colorado, raised in Highlands Ranch and Sterling, by parents who taught me to always work hard and do the right thing, even when nobody’s looking.
When they both became terminally ill with cancer, I moved back home to provide end-of-life care for them. It was the toughest thing I’ve ever done, and it opened my eyes to how broken our systems truly are.
That’s why my dad told me before he passed: “You’ve gotta run, kiddo.”
At this time of crisis, I feel a profound obligation to answer his call.
