Congressman Crenshaw’s Service Academy nomination applications are due this Friday, October 10, 2025.

High school students interested in the United States Military Academy (West Point), the United States Naval Academy, or the United States Air Force Academy should submit their applications promptly. These prestigious institutions train future military officers through rigorous academics, physical fitness, and hands-on leadership development.

Each offer of admission (valued at approximately $400,000 to $600,000) includes tuition, housing, healthcare, books, uniforms, and a monthly stipend. In return, graduates agree to serve five to ten years in the military, starting the day they take the Oath of Allegiance. Students can withdraw within the first two years without penalty, but those who leave later may be required to serve as enlisted personnel or repay educational costs. Some career paths, such as aviation, require additional years of service.

Upon graduation, academy students are commissioned as Second Lieutenants or Ensigns and immediately take on leadership roles in the Army, Air Force, Space Force, or Navy. This experience provides a solid foundation for a successful military career or future achievements in business, government, or public service.

  • Eligibility Requirements:  Applicants must be U.S. citizens by July 1 of their admission year, between 17 and 22 years old, unmarried, have no dependents, and demonstrate good moral character. A limited number of international students may attend through nominations from their home countries.
  • Evaluation Process: Academies use a “Whole Person” approach, considering academic ability, leadership, character, fitness, and resilience—not just test scores.
  • Application Timeline:
    • Junior Year (Feb–May): Open your application, request nominations from your Representative and Senators, apply to summer programs, and begin training for the Candidate Fitness Assessment (CFA).
    • Summer Before Senior Year (Jun–Aug): Attend summer programs, complete your medical exams (DoDMERB), and draft essays and recommendation letters.
    • Senior Year (Sep–Jan): Submit all nomination materials by Congressman Crenshaw’s October 10, 2025, deadline. Complete the CFA, interviews, and academy applications by January 31.
    • Senior Year (Feb–May): Wait for appointment decisions (most by April 15), finalize medical waivers, and accept or decline offers by May 1.

Each academy offers a rigorous, STEM-based education designed to challenge and develop future leaders. Congressman Crenshaw has successfully secured appointments for up to 19 students per year. Students interested in military leadership should also consider other commissioning options, including Officer Candidate School (OCS) and ROTC programs.

Sincerely,
