Kansas City, MO and Washington, D.C. are two places I am proud to have called home. KC raised me and remains my home base for holidays, get-togethers, and old-fashioned family time. D.C. helped mold me, introducing me to lifelong friends and opportunities that have shaped my career.

These cities make up part of who I am, so seeing Donald Trump’s attacks on democracy in both places feels personal.

He has federalized the National Guard and deployed troops all over D.C. to police everyday Americans. To rig the 2026 midterms for Republicans, Trump ordered Missouri state legislators to all but eliminate Kansas City’s congressional district—my home district.

I attended the No Kings rally in June to say enough is enough. I’m attending again on October 18th to say it again and to stand up for the communities that matter most to me.
