Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Tressel Announce 5 Projects Set to Create 218 Jobs, More Than $2.1 Billion in Investments
(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik today announced the approval of five projects that will create 218 new jobs and retain nearly 1,165 jobs statewide.
During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. The projects are expected to result in more than $14 million in new payroll and generate over $2.1 billion in investments across Ohio.
Axium Packaging, LLC, Jersey Township and city of New Albany (Licking County), expects to create 70 full-time-equivalent positions, generating more than $3.6 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s new location in Jersey Township and the city of New Albany. Axium Packaging produces plastic packaging for personal care, food, home, hygiene, and other products. The proposed project will include the construction of a new facility for added capacity for tube manufacturing and specialized warehouse operations. TCA approved a 1.23 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
Vantage Data Centers Management Company, LLC, village of Millersport (Fairfield County), expects to create 37 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $3.7 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s new location in Millersport. Vantage powers, cools, protects, and connects the technology of hyperscalers, cloud providers, and large enterprises. The proposed project includes a fixed-asset investment of $2.1 billion, including $ 2.1 billion in building costs. TCA approved a 50 percent, 10-year Data Center Tax Exemption for the project.
Becker Mining America, Inc., city of Mount Vernon (Knox County), expects to create 40 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $2.4 million in new annual payroll as a result of its new location in Mount Vernon. Becker Mining Systems supplies energy, automation, communication, transportation, and infrastructure technology for the mining industry. The proposed project includes the acquisition of an existing facility to house intellectual property and manufacturing operations to better serve U.S. customers. TCA approved a 1.169 percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
The Ohio Bridge Corporation, city of Cambridge (Guernsey County), expects to create 41 full-time-equivalent positions, generating more than $2.3 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s expansion in Cambridge. U.S. Bridge designs and constructs steel bridges in addition to a full range of services, including project scoping, engineering, fabrication, shipping and erection of bridges. The proposed project includes the expansion of their current facilities with the construction of a 70,000- square- foot building for advanced welding equipment and streamlined production. The project includes the renovation of older buildings to optimize operations and support workforce growth, boosting efficiency, and capacity. TCA approved a 1.163, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
VILPE USA LLC, city of Mason (Warren County), expects to create 30 full-time-equivalent positions, generating more than $2.7 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s new location in Mason. Vilpe is a Finland-based advanced manufacturing company focused on sustainability, producing smart roofing, HVAC, and monitoring solutions for the commercial property market. The proposed project includes the establishment of the company’s first North American office and will serve as its North American headquarters. TCA approved a 1.428 percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
