In northern Sudan, the lives of women and girls are at the heart of a deepening humanitarian crisis.

Hospitals in Sudan’s capital, Al Fasher, lie in ruins, and most health facilities have been forced to shut down. Severely limited access to healthcare coupled with the scarcity of clean water and proper sanitation, is accelerating the spread of cholera and other deadly diseases.

Sumaia holds her severely malnourished eight-month-old baby, Ainaya. Like many families she has had little to no access to food or medical care since she fled to Tawila for her family’s safety.

The healthcare system is overwhelmed by severe overcrowding and a critical lack of supplies and essential medicines. Tens of thousands of people — including an estimated 22,400 pregnant women — cannot reach urgent, lifesaving medical care. The situation is further worsened by the rainy season, which increases the risk of malnutrition and disease.

As one of the few remaining lifelines for women and girls in Sudan, UNFPA’s temporary clinics, sustained by supporters like you, provide free health services, 24 hours a day, including maternal and newborn care. It’s where survivors like Sumaia and Ainaya access medical care, shelter, and mental health support. Right now, you can extend critical care to women and girls in Sudan and beyond. Will you make an emergency gift to help sustain lifesaving relief now? [[link removed]?]

Women wait outside UNFPA’s temporary clinic in Tawila, which provides free health services, 24 hours a day, including maternal and newborn care.

Supplies are running low and we simply cannot keep up with the needs of the region. At best, most people are barely surviving on a single meal each day — at worst, famine takes lives daily. Due to dire starvation in areas under siege, mothers have no choice but to risk their families' lives fleeing for safety.

But this is nothing new for women and girls in Sudan. For over two years, they have endured or succumbed to a living nightmare of violence, hunger, disease, and displacement.

Supporters like you have been a lifeline for Sudanese women and girls during this crisis. Gifts provide reproductive health and safety services, counseling, safe spaces, and more. Extend critical care to even more in Sudan and make an emergency gift now. Your immediate donation can save lives. [[link removed]?]
