Stop abusive puppy mills and protect dogs!

Countless innocent puppies and dogs continue to suffer needlessly inside USDA-licensed breeding facilities, sometimes called puppy mills. But it doesn’t have to be this way. That’s why we’re urgently pushing for legislation to create stronger enforcement of the Animal Welfare Act to ensure better treatment of vulnerable puppies and dogs at USDA-licensed facilities—and we’re counting on your help.

At every turn, we’re being met with resistance from the American Kennel Club—a breed registry that has proven time and again that it does not care for local, state and federal legislation meant to protect the dogs it claims to care so much about.

Now, it has even gone as far as spreading falsehoods about the Better CARE for Animals Act, a bill that would create tools to allow for better collaboration between the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Department of Justice so they can better enforce the Animal Welfare Act and save animals’ lives. The American Kennel Club turns a blind eye to the cruelty of large-scale breeding facilities like puppy mills, preferring to profit off of registrations rather than supporting laws to strengthen animal protection standards and enforcement—so it’s no shock that it’s lobbying against the Better CARE for Animals Act. Now, it’s up to us to ensure their efforts can’t sabotage this lifesaving legislation for helpless puppies and dogs.
